Welcome to Chemistry 12! Sept. 5, 2017
My name is Anne Durante and it is my great pleasure to be teaching the senior Chemistry classes at St. John Brebeuf. I am returning to SJB to teach Chemistry after being away for 17 years while I raised my family and spent some time teaching at the elementary level. In this course I aim to deepen your child’s knowledge and skills, as well as broaden their understanding of the social and environmental implications of chemistry. I am attaching the course outline on this page, and I will be using this website for any updates or information you need to know. I look forward to getting to know you and your children! Please feel free to contact me at email@example.com or by calling the school.

Today we learned how to calculate ion concentrations, how to write formula, complete and net ionic equations, and how to predict precipitates. The homework for tonight is from the handout 21, 22, and 25 (a-f). I am posting the answers to the homework from the weekend under “Solubitity lesson 1 answers”. I have also uploaded the latest powerpoint lesson.
Friday, October 6, 2017
The homework for the weekend is from the handout “Solubility Questions 1” 15, 20 a,b,c,d. Have a great Thanksgiving weekend!!
Thursday, October 5, 2017
The homework is from the handout “Solubility Questions 1” 1-11.
The Characteristics of Equilibrium Assignment
Remember to graph 6 and 7 on the same graph (leave space for concentration and time enough for 7). Give the graph a title and label the axes. This will be due tomorrow (Tues., Sept 12).
There will be a quiz on the characteristics of an equilibrium this coming Thursday.
The homework for this weekend is from the handout on LeChatelier’s principle 17-23. I have hopefully succeeded in uploading the last 2 powerpoint packages to this page!
There will be a quiz this Wednesday on LeChatelier’s Principle (no graphing). The homework for tonight is 24-28 on the handout.
The homework on enthalpy/entropy is in the notes, which I’m including on this page. Don’t forget quiz corrections!
Sunday, Sept. 24/17
To all those who are checking this page now, if you get a chance while you are catching up from the Mt. St. Helen’s trip, please read up on the Equilibrium constant pgs. 131-136. The practice work you missed you will get tomorrow. We will take it up in class and continue on from there.
Monday, Sept. 25/17
The homework for tonight is from the worksheet handed out today 36-41, 44
Tuesday, Sept. 26/17
I am uploading to this page the solutions to the examples I will be doing in class tomorrow, as well as questions to practice (and the answer key). This is for you senior soccer boys to download, study and practice in time for your return on Monday. There will be a Unit test on Equilibrium next week, probably on Wednesday. Have fun and good luck boys!!
Wednesday, Sept. 27/17
Today we went over more equilibrium calculations. There will be a unit test on equilibrium next Wednesday. The homework for tonight is to do questions 47-50 from the handout, and continue to 52 , 53, 55 if you can. The answer key for these is found on a link here entitled “Equilibrium Calculations examples and questions”.
Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017
Today we did more equilibrium calculation practice. Please practice to the end of the handout and then pg. 156 2,4,5,7,11,12 in the text. I will take up any questions tomorrow. There will be a unit test on Wednesday next week.
Friday, Sept. 29, 2017
Today we reviewed more equilibrium calculations. I have uploaded the topics for the unit test to this page. Have a great weekend!!
Monday, Oct. 2, 2017
The homework for this evening is to complete both review packages. I am uploading the answer keys to this page. The test is on Wednesday.
