Principal’s Message
I congratulate the students on their recent Interim Reports. A large number of our students appear to be achieving at a very high level, which is certainly commendable. I would remind students that the final months go quickly and to continue their efforts to ensure a successful conclusion to the year.
There are two events on the calendar for May that we invite parents to be aware of: the Welcome Dinner and the Mother‘s day Mass.
Families of new students are reminded to let the office staff know if you are planning to attend the Welcome Dinner, which is taking place on Wednesday, May 7.
We also wish to extend an invitation to all mothers to the Mass on May 8th. The Mass is to be celebrated by Archbishop Miller.
A serious issue continues to be the use of cell phones and digital cameras in the school. It is important that parents assist in this matter. A number of students have been caught filming classes or friends in school. These incidents for the most part have been relatively harmless. However, it leaves us open to some serious legal issues, not the least of which is student privacy and protection. It is not legal to take pictures or video of any person without their expressed permis-sion and to post those in any public forum, including face book and the like. Chris Blesch

Principal’s Message
January 28th through the 31st is the
scheduled School Exam period. The purpose for taking the week is to ensure that
the examinations are the focal point for all our students. As a result, all
school and extra-curricular activities are suspended for the week to ensure this
academic focus.
It is important students recognize the importance of both the
school and provincial exams. We ask that students who are not writing exams, or
attending organized study sessions, avoid staying at the school to assist with
maintaining an appropriate tone within the building. Obviously, we have some
students where ride situations dictate that they remain here. We ask that these
students conduct themselves accordingly and remain in the assigned study
areas.

Principal’s Message
The school staff wishes to extend to
all families our wishes and prayers for a safe and restful Christmas
Season. This is a joy filled time in the
church and should serve as a chance for families to connect both with each
other and their church community.
I would also like to extend my thanks
for the support and warm reception I have received here at SJB as this year
draws to a close. Archbishop Miller writes
in his book on Catholic Education that a Catholic school must be a place of “communion
and community”. I feel very confident in
saying that this is the case at SJB given my experiences thus far. It is a fantastic community, and I look
forward to the opportunity to be part of the growth and development of SJB in
the New Year.

All living things are a result of a set of physical and behavior adaptations.
Every feature of every creature better suits it to the environment that it inhabits.
Of course, Nature is never finished creating new species.
As a new Biologist, your task is to invent a new plant or animal.
It needs to exist in a habitat somewhere on earth.
You are to draw picture of your creation and label all of its adaptations, as well as describing how each of the adaptations help suit it for its environment. Be sure that the adaptations allow it to both feed and protect itself.
Be sure to give your new species a name and explain any mating strategies, courtship or how it reproduces ( eg, lays eggs, has live young, etc.)
