Student life here at St. John Brebeuf is fun, supportive, and truly one of a kind. Walking down the halls at SJB, you are surrounded by friends. Our community allows students of all grades to really get to know each other and create lasting bonds of friendship. The atmosphere is positive as staff members strive to build up our students with knowledge and confidence and provide opportunities for success. The spirit within our walls is electric. Both staff and students are proud to call themselves “Bears” and wear the St. John Brebeuf crest with pride.
Performing Arts
Lights! Camera! Action! If you love to sing and dance, act, create sets and props or work back stage, this is an awesome way to experience the fine arts. Annual performances take place at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium.
SJB Times
Keep up-to-date on school happenings and current events from a high-school perspective with our very own student-run newspaper, the SJB Times! Students write, edit, design and publish the newsletter four times a year under the leadership of Mrs. Neuls. Student Council
Every September the student body elects a Student Council from that year’s graduating class. Look for student council-sponsored events and activities throughout the year. If you have any ideas or suggestions you’d like to bring forward, they’d love to hear them.Follow on Instagram
Bear Cave
The BEAR Cave is all about knowing that you belong. Senior students lead BEAR Cave once a week. Come and hang out with us, play games, meet some new people and know you’re a valued member of our school.

The Daily Grind Cafe
The Daily Grind is SJB’s very own student-run cafe and student lounge. Led by the Marketing and Entrepreneurship Department, the cafe carries a wide range of caffeinated and non-caffeinated drinks and snacks and is a place for all students to meet up, relax and refuel. The Daily Grind Cafe uses ethically sourced, organic, and locally roasted coffee beans. We are striving to be environmentally friendly with the business motto of PEOPLE OVER PROFITS. Any money made from the cafe will be reinvested back into the school to transform and renovate the old library into a permanent location for the cafe and a student commons and study area.
