Faith in Action

Faithfully Grounded

We are a community deeply grounded in the truth of our Catholic faith. This stability gives our community a place to rest and lean on. We are consistent and confident. We stay true to who we are while still remaining open and inclusive to all. This foundation of faith and love of Jesus Christ becomes how we connect and relate to one another.

Daily Chapel

Our school Chapel is open daily and students are invited to start their day with morning prayer. We also offer Adoration and Confession weekly when our Chaplain visits.

The Chapel is also available to students any time for personal prayer.

Monthly Mass

We are fortunate to have school-wide and grade-level masses each month either with our school Chaplain in either our school gym or at St. James Parish.

Sacristan Team

This group of dedicated students helps keep our chapel clean, assists in setting up our school Masses helping to enrich the atmosphere for liturgical celebrations. The responsibilities are not overwhelming, but the importance of these humble acts is great. This group meets a few times a year for a rotation of duties.

Verso L'Alto

This club exists to provide opportunities for personal formation for students. Our inspiration is Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, who is the patron of students and young people. The words verso l'alto mean 'to the heights', which was a motto of his to challenge the life of mediocrity and to strive instead for a life of greatness. We meet weekly for personal goal setting, outreach challenges, prayer, philosophical discourse, and field trips that integrate adventure in the wilderness with the beauty and truth of our faith.

Compassionate Sacrifice

We are united in Servant Leadership. Where there is a need, we are willing to give beyond what feels easy or comfortable. We serve others, actively getting involved for the sake of our students, staff, community, and beyond. We are willing to adapt, overcome, and take on any challenge. These challenges bring us together.

Pilgrimage

Every few years, a team of students passionate about helping others takes a pilgrimage to do service and missionary work in a developing country.

Music Ministry

This group of talented, enthusiastic and musically-inclined students is involved in singing at our school Masses, liturgical celebrations and assemblies. We even go caroling and do other fun activities together. We meet a few times a month to practice and to create PowerPoint presentations for our school gatherings.

Peer Ministry

SJB Peer Ministry is a program based on caring for and welcoming one another. As a response to our loving God, we want to exude the same desire towards knowing others and building genuine peer relationships. These individual connections will in turn build the greater community. We want to notice those in need of a welcoming "hello" and take action led by a compassionate heart - this means overcoming our fears or reservations when approaching another person in the hallways or taking a seat next to a stranger at an assembly. We are also called to listen carefully to each other without the need to problem solve. Rather, be attentive and accepting of the person before you.

Interested in being a part of SJB’s Peer Ministry? Applications are accepted in each spring.

This organization is centered on defending the most vulnerable and advocating for social change in our world. A wide range of activities allows students to participate at both the local and global levels and finds a away to make a difference.
