Grad Updates

Grad year is a very fun and exciting year, but it is also a very busy one. To keep you updated our teacher rep, Mme. Henneveld will be sending out a monthly grad newsletter, posting information to this site, and sending updates from the Grad Google classroom page. 

Please feel free to email Mme. Henneveld with any grad-related questions if you have them.


DATES TO LOOK FORWARD TO

  • November 27 - December 1: Grad Photos

  • April 24-26: Grade 12 Retreat @Stillwood Camp (make sure you book this off of work)

  • Wednesday, May 29: Grads are invited to come to school early for a special breakfast (7:30am) 

  • Wednesday, May 29: Once again, grad mass will be combined with the school mass and candle passing (10am @ St. James) 

  • Thursday, May 30: Dinner/Dance @ Newlands, 6pm start. Tickets are $90, a ticket is required for each grad and family member who wishes to attend.  Download a ticket order form. Ticket sales close May 1. If students wish to bring an out-of-school date, they need to fill in a permission form. See Mme. Henneveld. 

  • Friday, May 31: Dry Grad @ Castle Fun Park, charter bus arrives at Newlands at midnight to take grads to Castle Fun Park (36165 N. Parallel Road).  Lots of fun activities are planned for the night, tickets are $70 each.  Grads must take the bus and must stay until they are picked up by their parents at 5:30AM. Parents/Guardians will pick up grads from Castle Fun Park at 5:30AM, sharp. Carpooling is allowed for pickup, but students may not drive themselves. 

  • Thursday, June 20 at 2 pm: Commencement at Central Heights Church (1661 McCallum Road) Note the new time for this year! No tickets necessary, open to everyone. 

    Grads arrive at Central Heights Church between 12:00 and 12:30PM

    Grad gowns are available for pickup at SJB on June 19th (for family pics) or can be picked up on June 20th before commencement. Grad gowns MUST be returned at the church after the commencement ceremony. 

Tickets for the May 30-31st events will be available for purchase in the spring. These are the only *school sponsored* events planned for grad.
